Frequently asked questions
How is the CRS score calculated?
The Comprehensive Ranking System adds four blocks published by IRCC: core human capital (age, education, languages, Canadian work experience, up to 500 points), spouse factors (up to 40), skill transferability (up to 100) and additional points (up to 600, including 600 for a provincial nomination). The maximum is 1,200.
How many CRS points does French give?
With NCLC 7 or higher in all four French skills, IRCC adds 25 points if you have CLB 4 or lower in English (or no English test), and 50 points if you also have CLB 5 or higher in all four English skills. French also counts as a first or second official language.
How do I convert TCF Canada scores to NCLC?
IRCC publishes one table per skill: for example, NCLC 7 is 453–498 in reading, 458–502 in listening and 10–11 out of 20 in writing and speaking. The calculator converts your scores; the full table is on the TCF → NCLC page.
What changes on November 3, 2026?
IRCC replaces the Canadian work experience points with a Labour Market Integration factor (up to 150 points without a spouse): Canadian experience with extra points for high-wage occupations, or a job offer in a high-wage occupation (up to 100 points), whichever is higher. An LMIA is no longer needed. The rest of the grid does not change.
Is this score official?
No. It is an estimate based on the grid IRCC publishes. Your official score is calculated by IRCC in your Express Entry profile from your test results and documents.
